Primary Eyecare Network Offering Four Educational Events June 5-6
Topics covered include eyewear styling, increasing sales, and staff training

 

ALAMEDA, Calif. (May 15, 2019) – Primary Eyecare Network (PEN), ABB OPTICAL GROUP's practice management division, is offering eye care practitioners four educational events on June 5 and June 6.

"Our goal at PEN is to provide ECPs with the tools, knowledge and resources necessary to make their practices more profitable," said Melanie Miller, managing director at ABB OPTICAL GROUP. "We are pleased to offer these four educational events in June to help optical staff become experts in their field and take part in leading their practices to success."

All four PEN events will be led by American Board of Opticianry certified optician and certified paraoptometric Mary Schmidt at the PEN Education Center, 1750 N. Loop Road in Alameda, California.

PEN's Lens Selection Workshop is scheduled for June 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Schmidt will help participants become expert frame stylists and learn tips on how to find the best eyewear for their patients' vision needs. The event will be followed by PEN's Confidence in Selling Workshop from 1 to 4 p.m., which will teach participants how to present products and services to patients to increase sales. Each workshop costs $150 for PEN members, $190 for non-members and is worth two ABO continuing education credits.

The next day, June 6, Schmidt will lead two seminars on staff training. The morning session, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., will cover must have skills for managers, such as how to identify staff problems, create a plan for performance issues, set realistic, measurable standards, and communicate clearly and effectively with staff. The afternoon session, from 1 to 4:30 p.m., will focus on practice growth through leadership. Each session costs $150 for PEN members, $190 for non-members and is worth three ABO continuing education credits.
