ABB OPTICAL GROUP Adds Industry Professional Melanie Miller to Sales Team
Company also appoints executive Bart Tessel to new position of vice president of business development and strategic initiatives
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (February 2, 2016) – ABB OPTICAL GROUP, one of the nation's leading providers of optical products, announced it has hired former Bausch + Lomb director Melanie Miller as managing director of strategic and national accounts. Additionally, Bart Tessel, who has been with the company since 2009, will move to the new position of vice president of business development and strategic initiatives.
"With her extensive experience in the optical industry, adding Melanie to our sales team was a natural fit," said ABB OPTICAL GROUP President Brad Weinbrum. "Melanie's new role at ABB will allow Bart to focus on building our overall optical platform by increasing our reach and visibility, developing new business partnerships and collaboration opportunities within the industry, and growing our service lines and product portfolio."
Miller has more than 20 years of sales and account management experience. She held various leadership positions with Bausch + Lomb for 11 years, most recently as one of the company's national account directors.
As managing director of strategic and national accounts at ABB Optical, Miller will be assuming responsibilities previously under Tessel's purview, including managing a team of strategic account professionals. She also will build long-term relationships with strategic customers and other relevant organizations; ensure that customers' goals and objectives are achieved; conduct research for strategic initiatives; develop strategic growth plans and direction; participate in key industry organizations; and advise the company about industry dynamics and market trends. The company's strategic accounts include optical retail chains, doctor alliances, group purchasing organizations, and optical manufacturers.
Miller is a member of the American Society for Training and Development and the Society of Pharmaceutical and Biotech Trainers. She received her bachelor's degree in medical technology from Austin Peay University in Tennessee.
In his new role as vice president of business development and strategic initiatives, Tessel will focus on developing new business opportunities for ABB Optical, including expanding the company's product portfolio and service lines, forging new business partnerships and collaborations, market development, and geographical growth.
Tessel began his career at ABB OPTICAL GROUP in 2009 as director of supply chain solutions before assuming the position of director of strategic relationships. In 2012, he was promoted to vice president with responsibility for strategic account development. His achievements at ABB include the development and business growth of the company's supply chain offerings, including a third party logistics program for Bausch + Lomb. He also led the implementation and subsequent development of Luxottica programs for Pearle Vision franchisees and LensCrafters affiliates.
